⛵ Ocean wind: Prevailing breeze off the Pacific from the NW, 10–15 mph by mid-morning. Holes 4, 11, 12, and 15 most exposed. A left-to-right wind amplifies Cory's fade — allow extra right movement on those holes and aim slightly left of normal.
Caddie's game plan — Cory
Your ball flight is a major asset at Torrey North. Dead straight or a slight fade means both sides of the fairway are in play — you have no real left-side miss to manage. Aim directly at your target or a shade left on wind-exposed holes to let the fade work back to center. You can attack this course more directly than most players.
💨 Watch the left-to-right ocean wind on exposed holes. On holes 4, 11, 12, and 15, a left-to-right wind will push your natural fade further right. On those holes specifically, aim a yard or two left of your normal target and take one extra club to ensure full carry.
🏌️ Your wedge game around the green is elite. When you miss a green, back yourself to get up and down — you should be converting scrambles more often than not. Don't leave yourself awkward partial distances. Get into a full wedge situation or a clean chip lie and take it from there.
💪 Your length is a genuine weapon on the par 5s. At 240–275 you can realistically reach holes 9, 14, and 18 in two. When you're striking it well and the wind is neutral or helping, go for it. Your straight-to-fade shape makes the green-in-2 shot very manageable compared to a player with a bigger miss.
🎯 Holes 2 and 16 are your birdie specials. Short par 4s where your length means an easy layup to a full wedge. Your elite wedge game + solid putting = birdies here every time you execute cleanly.
